Isabelle Élie

Designer

Since 1982

Isabelle Élie is a designer of high-end women’s ready-to-wear. Her eponymous collections consist primarily of evening wear and clothes for working women. All of her garments are designed and produced in her atelier by a dozen or so employees. Isabelle Élie creations are sold exclusively through her store on Laurier Avenue West in Montreal and through her Website.

After learning the basics of sewing on her own as a teen, Isabelle Élie attended the Cotnoir Capponi school of fashion design and LaSalle College in Montreal for several years. In 1982, while still in school, she began her career doing work as a stylist for Quebec fashion magazine Clin d’œil. Her jobs with the magazine introduced her to the world of costume-making for advertising, television and film. In 1985, she began working as a freelance costume designer and seamstress. After ten years, she took a break to focus on raising her family.

In 2000, Isabelle Élie founded her own women’s fashion company, opening her first boutique at 1090 Laurier Avenue West. She operated a second store in Rockland Centre from 2005 to 2007, and another on De la Montagne Street from 2009 to 2013. In 2014, the designer decided to centralize her operations in a single, larger store/atelier at 1069-73 Laurier Avenue West. In addition to selling her collections, Isabelle Élie creates custom-made clothing for clients looking for unique pieces.
