Groupe Dynamite began in 1975 with the opening of the first Garage boutique, in Montreal’s Place Versailles shopping centre. Andrew Lutfy took over the company after buying this store from his father-in-law in the 1980s. To promote growth, he created the Dynamite brand in 1984 to target young working women while Garage focussed more on the teen market. Both labels offer trendy, affordably priced fast fashion.
