Founded in 2004 in Montreal by Ilan Elfassy, Soia & Kyo is primarily known for its simple, yet original, outerwear with precise tailoring. The garments are often a blend of leather, wool and down. Initially aimed solely at women, the brand now offers a men’s collection of coats and accessories. The products are designed in Montreal and manufactured outside the country.

Many celebrities wear Soia & Kyo, including actresses Meghan Markle (known as the Duchess of Sussex since marrying Prince Harry of England), Elisabeth Moss and Julia Roberts.

Soia & Kyo are a division of The APP Group, which also owns the luxury outerwear brand Mackage. In 2016, a numbered company belonging to American, Korean and Canadian interests purchased a majority of shares in The APP Group. However, the group’s head office is still in Montreal.
